The first comment is that these debates don't matter. Obama doesn't do well in debates; McCain always exceeds expectations.

Rumor has it that the incredibly corrupt ACORN was to get money from the proposed bailout. With gems like that in the bill, small wonder the Republicans balked. What else is in there? Reid and Dodd are either idiots or cynics perhaps both.

Chris Dodd and His Fellow Perps - Will Anybody Shut Them Up?

I just can not stand it anymore. ("I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take it any more!")The very guys who were behind the CRA (Community Reinvestment Act)that led to the banks making questionable loans, that led to the growth and instability at Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae and the eventual collapse of our financial structures are now the ones blaming those banks for the loans they were forced to make. Forced? You bet! Janet Reno threatened criminal action if they did not implement the wildly insane mandates of the CRA.

Former Secretary of the Treasury Rubin and President Clinton have both admitted as much.

When the hell is somebody, other than Mark Levin, going to deal with this?

Do the media assume that this all too complicated for us poor hayseeds out in the boonies to understand?

I understand it just fine.

Dodd, you and your fellow socialists created this mess. For God's sake, shut up and sit down and let some folks who know what they are doing straighten out the mess you made. Be damn grateful the folks aren't out in the streets with pitchforks calling for your head.

VDH on Biden

This post by Victor Davis Hanson on NRO's The Corner is absolutely hilarious:

I think in the space of about the last 24 hours, Joe Biden claimed that the AIG bailout was bad, but then said it wasn't bad;

that we did not need to burn coal;

that his apology about the dirty McCain ad was, as they say, inoperative;

that FDR once went on television to address the nation after the stock market crash of '29 (that's a twofer that trumps Obama's Americans liberating Auschwitz);

and all but said that McCain took a $50,000 bribe.

Not a bad day's work — encompassing terrible energy policy, flip-flopping, historical ignorance, and slander. And this comes on top of Palin the "good looking" "Lt. Governor" of Alaska, Hillary as the better VP pick than himself, the patriotism of paying higher taxes, and so on.

And those in turn come on top of the primary remarks about Indians in donut shops, and "bright and clean" blacks. And those in turn come on top of . . . (Well, go back to the pilfered speeches and made-up bios.)

Something is very wrong here. While most forgive the silly slip like "Barack America" or asking the wheel-chair bound to stand up, I think the Obama staff must have gone from amusement to embarrassment and now to serious concern whether Biden is up to the job.

Had this been Palin, the election would now be over.

This is absolutely true. The selection of Biden has been a net negative for the Obama campaign. What "gravitas" he brings to the ticket (in terms of years in the Senate) are undermined by his inability to answer any question in fewer than 100 words and his asinine gaffes.

There were plenty of other VP choices that would have better suited Obama's candidacy, but he instead opted for the blowhard from Delaware.
